Visitors to Cabinteely Park on the 14th of November were very surprised to to find themselves in the company of Superwoman, Chief Wiggum and two dozen walking boxes. This was Loreto Foxrock’s Transition Year, completing six laps of the park in ridiculous costumes in order to raise money for our chosen charities, Preda and the Mater Hospital Foundation.
One class chose to become the cast of the Simpsons, featuring three Barts and two Maggies; another class was transformed into a formidable costumed crime-fighting force; and a third decided to dress up as farm animals, including several anatomically-correct cows that were made out of a couple of plastic coveralls and a few rubbber gloves.
Everyone really enjoyed themselves, though the six laps seemed a lot longer than we’d expected and we were all exhausted by the end of it. Some of us attracted a fair few stares on the bus on the way home too.
