Here in Loreto Foxrock, we are fortunate to have a highly dedicated and skilled science team. The science department consists of full time physics, chemistry and biology teachers, all of whom are supported behind the scenes by our hardworking lab technician.
We have six Science laboratories, all of which are fully equipped with a plentiful supply of equipment and chemicals. Data logging equipment is up and running in all of the laboratories.
Along with the running of the Junior and all Senior cycle science curricula, we offer the three science subjects in Transition year.
During Transition year students get the chance to study a diverse range of contemporary topics within each discipline, even getting the chance to solve murder mysteries using DNA fingerprinting!!
In the past we have been successful in having students represent our school in the Young Scientist Exhibition, and indeed, have run our own in-house science competition each year.
Science Week now enjoys a long tradition in our school. Celebrated in the first term, daily science activities are available for all to enjoy - not just science students. Competitions and fun events help to bring science to life.
All in all science is an integral part of Loreto Foxrock, and will remain so thanks to the dedication of staff and students alike.
