ANTI-BULLYING BEHAVIOUR POLICY FOR STUDENTS

MISSION STATEMENT
In the Spirit of Mary Ward, Loreto College Foxrock is a caring, enabling, learning community where staff and students work together with mutual respect to fulfil their God-given potential with integrity, compassion, and a sense of humour in the generous pursuit of a just world.

1.   RATIONALE

Our students are adolescents going through a period of growth and transition in their lives which includes a search for a sense of identity, a desire for independence and a need to belong. In the course of this uncertain journey bullying behaviour may emerge. Our Anti-Bullying Behaviour Policy for Students strives to guide and support students through this vulnerable period. The policy strives to ensure that good relationships are fostered within the school community. We recognise that all students have the right to come to a school free from bullying and have the right to enjoy learning and recreation in a safe and happy environment.

2.   SCOPE

The Anti-Bullying Policy applies to the preservation of a bullying-free environment and students are required to act in accordance with the policy while in school, while travelling to and from school and while attending any school authorised activity including trips, sporting and cultural events.

3.   PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION

‘The Loreto School is perceived as a community, with the student at its centre, where every effort is made to give practical expression to truth, freedom, justice, sincerity and joy.  Relationships are characterised by respect, justice, honesty, sincerity, courage and compassion.

Trustees, management, teaching and ancillary staff, students and parents value and affirm each other and work together in a collaborative fashion. The network of relationships must be underpinned by a deep respect for persons and characterised by courtesy, tolerance, loyalty and respect for the integrity of all as the school community works towards a common vision."   (The Educational Philosophy of Loreto Schools 2009)
