Christmas Reading

Are you looking for some ideas of what books to buy for them this Christmas?  Well look no further!   Our list of ‘Great Gripping Books’   contains the most popular books borrowed from the school library so far this year.  The list follows no particular order but is in approximate order of popularity.  Neither is it a ‘complete’ list of recommendations, but rather a snapshot of what’s being read right now.

Suzanne Collins’ ‘Hunger Games’ are firmly ‘Top of the charts’ at the moment, with Ali Carter’s and Sophie McKenzie’s thrillers also firm favourites.  Our own Sarah Webb’s ‘Amy Green’ series is always in demand, as are any of the offerings from Cathy Cassidy and PC & Kristin Cast.  The wonderful Malorie Blackman, Philip Pullman & Mildred D Taylor continue to enjoy popularity and come highly recommended.  The demand for ‘The Help’ is growing daily, undoubtedly due to the film release, and John Boyne’s ‘The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas’ continues to draw interest and no doubt, in some cases, tears!  Most of our copies of the lovely ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’ by Michelle Magorian need replacing and our students are still getting lost in the worlds created by Tolkien and of course J K Rowling.
Happy holiday reading to all our students and families!
