Just like every year, the new 1st Years were informed at the start of September about the role of the Student Council and what they could do to become part of it. In Loreto College Foxrock the Student Council does tremendous work in bringing forward new and innovative ideas to the school. They play a huge role in the life of the school as they represent the student body as a whole and strive to achieve a better school community for their classmates. Plenty of enthusiastic girls jumped at the chance to be a voice for their classmates and make a difference in their school. Each nominee campaigned amongst their year group and when all votes were handed in, the three lucky girls chosen were Robyn Kós, Maria Luisa Hidalgo and Robyn Collins.
In order to prepare them for their new positions as school representatives, the three girls went to a Student Council training day. They brought back lots of useful skills including how to organise a council meeting, how to address issues put forward by students and the importance of the role of leader in a Student Council meeting.
Some ideas that the girls already have in mind are to get five minutes added to the break time and to do something about the overcrowded, cramped locker areas. Looks like this new batch of Student Council members are already well on their way to success!
