The Student Council, in conjunction with the Senior Debaters, Model United Nations and Social Committee are organising a Mock Election to be held in the school on the 4th February 2011. Students from 4th, 5th and 6th Year will be allowed one vote each and voting will be carried out just like a real election.
In preparation for the Mock Election, the students have set up a group of committees who have invited General Election candidates from the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown and Dublin South constituencies to come into the school on Thursday 3rd February for a debate and Q&A session with Transition Year and Leaving Certificate students.
The entire event has been organised by the students for the students, with the help of Ms. Giblin and Ms. Early. We hope this event will be very beneficial to the 6th Year and some 5th Year students who are registered to vote, but also to the families of the rest of the students who we are sure will have plenty to say about each politician and their policies after the debate.
