Congratulations to our wonderful Cadette B and Senior B Basketball teams on winning their league finals in DCU last Friday 24^th February - what exciting matches they were!  We are delighted for the players and their coach Mark Ingle.  Well done to all from everyone in Foxrock - we're very proud of your achievements.

Literacy Week will take place in our school on Monday 27^th February - Friday 2^nd March. 
Some of the activities that will be taking place during the week are:

• Word of the Day
• Crossword puzzles
• Our favourite word tree
• Readathon

On Friday 2^nd March students will be asked to complete a survey on what they liked and what they found helpful during the week.  They will also receive a survey for their parents.  It would be helpful if parents could complete this survey and have their daughter return it by Monday 5^th March.

Rebecca Geary, senior reporter (5B) talks to Kate Brayden and Sian Roberts-Walsh about their experiences of the BT Young Scientist Exhibition at which they were winners in their category.  Many thanks to Rebecca for this report.
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition ran from Wednesday the 11^th to Saturday the 14^th of January in the RDS Dublin.  It was no surprise that this year, as always, Loreto Foxrock was proudly represented by a number of talented budding scientists from our own school.  Two girls that stood out in particular for their outstanding work this year were Sian Roberts Walsh and Kate Brayden in Transition Year.

On 27^th January, every hockey team in the school joined together for a common goal.  The teams needed to raise a steep €8000 for hockey dug outs.  The Board of Management and the Parents’ Association will also generously contribute to the development.  Each player had to raise €30 and to do so they collected sponsorship money for participating in an all-day long hockeython from 10am to 6pm.  It was a fun if tiring challenge but the girls were well up to it if it meant improvements for their teams.

Our Senior Hockey team are being given the wonderful opportunity to travel to Belgium to watch the women Olympic qualifiers.  While there, they will receive training from some of the best Belgian hockey coaches and on top of that they’ll play the Belgian team, ‘The Red Dragons’.  The team will be heading off on this exciting trip on March 22^nd and return to Ireland on March 25^th.  There’s much anticipation for the trip, and it will definitely be an unforgettable experience for all involved.  Many thanks to Ms Keogh for organising the tour.
